Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about converting your gold to Bitcoin.
The Process
How does gold-to-Bitcoin conversion work?+
Request a free insured shipping kit, pack and ship your gold, and we'll assay it using XRF spectrometry. You'll receive a fair market offer based on live spot prices. Accept, and Bitcoin is sent to your wallet within 48 hours. Decline, and we ship your gold back free of charge.
What types of gold do you accept?+
We accept all forms of gold: jewelry (any karat), coins, bullion bars, dental gold, scrap gold, and gold-plated items with sufficient gold content. If you're unsure, send it in — our XRF assay will determine the exact gold content.
Is there a minimum amount of gold required?+
We recommend a minimum of 10 grams of gold for a conversion to be worthwhile after processing. However, there's no strict minimum — we'll assay whatever you send and make you an offer.
How is my gold valued?+
We use professional XRF spectrometry to determine the exact purity and weight of your gold. The value is calculated using the live gold spot price at the time of your offer, minus a transparent processing fee that's clearly stated upfront.
Shipping & Insurance
Is shipping insured?+
Yes, all shipping is fully insured from the moment you drop off your package. The shipping kit we provide includes prepaid labels with insurance. Your gold is covered for its full value throughout the entire process.
How long does the process take?+
Shipping typically takes 2-3 business days. Once we receive your gold, assay and offer are completed within 24 hours. If you accept, Bitcoin is sent within 48 hours. Total: approximately 5-7 business days from ship to payment.
What if I don't accept the offer?+
If you decline our offer, we ship your gold back to you at no cost. No questions asked. You're never locked in — the decision to convert is entirely yours after seeing the offer.
Bitcoin & Payment
Do I need a Bitcoin wallet?+
Yes, you'll need a Bitcoin wallet to receive your payment. If you don't have one, we can guide you through setting one up. Popular options include hardware wallets (Trezor, Coldcard) and mobile wallets (Muun, Blue Wallet).
Can I receive payment in cash instead of Bitcoin?+
Yes! While this site focuses on gold-to-Bitcoin conversion, Offramp also offers cash payment via check or wire transfer. Visit offrampgold.com for cash payment options.
Are there tax implications?+
Converting gold to Bitcoin is generally a taxable event. You may owe capital gains tax on any appreciation in your gold's value. We recommend consulting a tax professional for advice specific to your situation.
